You’ve mastered the art of the perfect playlist, but on this date, you and your partner can take your musical skills to the next level and learn to DJ.

HowAboutWe and Scratch DJ Academy are teaming up to host the ultimate DJ lesson -- part listening party, part tutoring session -- where couples will learn to spin, mix, blend, and scratch like a pro. Over the course of two hours, an expert instructor will teach the basics of music theory and song structure, and demonstrate how to use turntables, mixers, speakers and other DJing equipment.

At the end of the night, fuel up with some beer and wine and snacks, then show off your skills in a battle. May the best beats win!

Scratch DJ Academy, co-founded by Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay, has taught half a million people since 2002.
On Thursday, March 28th, Scratch will host a beginners' workshop -- just for HowAboutWe Couples.
Learn how to use turntables and mixers, and master the fundamentals of blending, timing, and scratching.
At the end of the evening, show off your new skills in a DJ battle with each other.

It’s been 10 years since Rob Principe and Jam Master Jay founded Scratch DJ Academy.

Continuing the legacy of Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay, Principe is inspired by upholding the same spirit of innovation. “[Jay] was a complete legend and ... had such a profound impact on DJing and pop culture,” he says. “All of what is today can be traced back in some way shape or form to what he did and what his group did.” Principe works hard to ensure that Scratch DJ Academy lives up to the high expectations Jay had for it.

The details

This date takes place on Saturday, June 15th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The event will last two hours.

Includes a two-part DJ-ing workshop, mingling breaks, and a final battle/showcase. Date also includes beer, wine, soda, and snacks.
